I am heartbroken for you all!  Even though I do not know you all personally, I want you to know that there are others praying for you!

I've had the strangest grief about Garrett- I cry, but then the memories come flooding in and all I can do is laugh. A really messy, laugh-cry. I plan on letting Garrett inspire me- he was a goofball, and, he managed to cheer everyone up. Including me. I like to think he put his work in in a short 23 years before he floated off into some different reality or heaven or nothingness, who knows? I wish all light and grace to Garrett's family and friends, we are all struggling but strong!!!

Praying for you! I know the pain of losing a child! The hardest thing you will ever have to do! I am lifting you up!

I have no words for the grief you are feeling, Suzanne & Vernon.  I pray your phenomenal faith in God will give you the strength to get through these days.  I have a lot of good memories from when Garrett was little.  Sitting at your table at the house in Beltsville.  He just wanted cake :).  And I loved talking with him last year at Mom's party.  Suzanne, his love for you was so evident.  Just know that our hearts are with you & we are sending you lots of love.  I love you, Sister Cousin!

I can still see Garrett walking down the hall as a nine year old coming into class.  He always had a big smile on his face as I greeted him at the door, and always, always, had something interesting or exciting to tell.  Garrett was so full of life and excitement, and would light up the room.  My heart breaks for you, Suzanne.  I know anything I say at this point is futile compared to the pain you are feeling. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so saddened to hear that this child (they are always children to me) will no longer walk this earth. Garrett made a difference and was a huge presence here, through his laughter, and the ways he made others smile. The space he created for himself here will leave a void that can never be filled- as he was one of a kind. My hope is that his soul is now at peace, and that he can be free to be who he wants to be. 
My prayer is for you, his family and that you can create a new life with the void that exists now. Please know that we are all thinking about you. This is the worst fear of any parent, and as a community, we must embrace you and hold you for to help you through this darkness. Words cannot express how the heart of a parent grieves for the loss another parent experiences.  My heart is shredded by the thought of the years to come where he will not be at the table for holidays - where his dreams will not be fulfilled - where his parents have been denied the chance to see him become a man.

I am SO sorry for the Borgwardt family's loss.  May Garrett rest in peace and may the rest of us, rest in The Peace of God which transcends all understanding and may this travesty be used for Your Glory, somehow, Lord.
