

He entered this world on Sept. 10, 1924 and departed us to be with the Lord on July 30, 2010.
He was a decorated WWII Vet and a recent Flight of Honor recipient. He served in Italy and North Africa during his 3 years of service.
He was overjoyed to host the first Back Yard BBQ with Lanie Pope this past June, especially giving Lanie a ride on his 4-wheeler.
He retired after 34 years of service at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.
He was a faithful member of Woodland Baptist Church and the Auditorium SS class. He was known by the ladies of the church as the “Candyman.”
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Hallie Love Hicks; five children, Glenn Thomas Hicks, Jr. (Katherine), Kathy Diane Plemmons (Roger), Connie Jane Palmer (Tommy), Ellen Sue Logan (Al), and Dave Alan Hicks (Amy); his six grandchildren, Shane, Shannon, Henri, Griffin, Micah, and a very special granddaughter, Danielle; four great grandchildren, Lauren, Maggie, Jon-Jon, and Maggie Rose; and several special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 2, 2010 at Woodland Baptist Church with the Reverend(s) Tim Gammons and Vic Pyles officiating. The family visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church.
Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
