

Hettie was born in Yadkin, County, on August 16, 1929 a daughter to the late Rupert Gibson Watford and the late Bessie Adams Watford. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. Pittman of 57 years, three son-in-laws, Bill Summey and H.Z. “Red” Jackson both married to Vicki, and W. Grant Young married to Marty.
She was of the Baptist faith and worked for Forsyth County Schools and retired after 24 plus years of service. Hettie loved her family and had a love for animals and her pets. She was a dedicated and loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great- great grandmother. She always encouraged her family to have a large family and she was proud to say that she went back to school and received her GED when she was in her 50s.
She is survived by three daughters, Darlene Cantrell and husband, Garry of Winston-Salem, grandson, Gary Wayne Cantrell and wife, Marla, great granddaughter, Brooke Cantrell, great grandson, Travis Cantrell and wife, Claire, and great greatgrandson Austin Cantrell, step grandson Tyler Funk, granddaughter, Christy Whicker and husband, Rodney, great granddaughter, Tiffani Talley and great greatgranddaughter, Raelynn Martin, and great granddaughter Courtney Talley; Vicki Summey Jackson and friend, Charles “Slick” Poteat of Lewisville, granddaughter, Charlotte Dorn and husband, Gregg Dorn great granddaughter, Grayce Dorn, granddaughter, Crystal Joyner, greatgrandson, Wayland Joyner, Weston Joyner, and great granddaughter, Sadie Joyner, and Marty Young of Walnut Cove and two grandsons, Zachary and Matthew Young; one son, Wayne Pittman of Winston-Salem, grandson, Pastor, John Pittman and wife, Mylia, great granddaughter, Madyson Pittman, great grandson Noah Pittman, great granddaughter, Marlee Pittman ; granddaughter, Stephanie Pittman and fiancé, Tyler McCormick.
