

Inez Walser Turner quietly passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011. She was born in Winston-Salem, NC on August 16, 1910, to Henry Lee and Sally Carter Walser. She grew up with an older brother, Lewis Walser, now deceased, and a younger brother, Terry Walser who still resides in Winston-Salem. Inez grew up in Winston-Salem, and lived there most of her life except for a few years during World War II when she lived in Kentucky while her husband was in the Army at Fort Knox. She graduated from Reynolds High School in 1929, and played on the softball team. Most of her working life Inez managed beauty salons in Winston-Salem including: Lamberti’s, Lamarick at Sherwood Plaza, Anchor Company, and Woman’s World, where she was joint owner. She was always very friendly, vivacious, outgoing, and enjoyed meeting people. Inez was a very active person and loved to play tennis, dance, and travel. She was still mowing her lawn in her eighties! Inez took a course in Interior Decorating and enjoyed using her talent to beautify her own home, and the homes’ of others. Her family and friends always appreciated her delicious cooking. She loved dogs and for many years had toy French Poodles as pets. Inez loved her family which includes; a son, Jim Hall and his wife Sarah, a daughter, Sandra Peterson, both of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Her family was one of her greatest joys. She and husband Floyd G. Turner, managed and operated an automatic car wash company in Clemmons for several years after they retired before health problems forced them to give up this business. Her husband’s health continued to decline, and she took care of him at home until his death in 1998. Inez has been a lifelong Baptist and was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church and later Westview Baptist Church, where she was a deacon. When she moved to Clemmons she attended the Clemmons Baptist Church until her health declined. She lived alone at her home in Clemmons until 2008 when she moved to Clemmons Village II Assisted Living, and later to the Oaks. She celebrated her 100th birthday August 16, 2010 with family and friends, and even with a loss of mobility and limited vision she enjoyed it thoroughly. He love for family, friends, visitors and caretakers was always positive. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be on Sunday, April 17, 2011, 2:00 p.m., at Vogler and Sons Clemmons Chapel with Rev. Robbie Phillips officiating.
