

James Manuel, 76, of Pfafftown passed away June 5, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Lena Manuel. His immediate survivors are his wife Regina of the home; his children Karen Manuel of Richmond, VA; James A. Manuel of Winston-Salem; Susan Locey and husband Bill of Charlotte; step-daughter Misty Dawn Taylor and her partner Alanthus; grandchildren Vanessa Manuel and K.C. Manuel; Will and Benjamin Locey; brothers John Manuel and his late wife Wanda and Elmer Manuel and wife Carolyn both of Danbury, NC; nephew Rev. Jerry Wayne Manuel and wife Pam; nieces Cheryl Crews and husband Robert; Allison Johnson and husband Ricky; and his “four-legged” daughters Abbey and Molly. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Command Sergeant Major after 42 years of service. In 1968 he founded Manuel Iron Works in Old Town and was active in the business until his declining health. He was a gifted blacksmith and steel fabricator, and avid NASCAR enthusiast, and a lover of all animals. Friends may visit on Friday, June 8, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
