Joseph Walter Hill

Joseph Walter Hill passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013. He was known as “Sonny” to family and close friends from Walnut Cove. As he got older and moved to Winston-Salem, everyone knew him as “Joe.” To his two sons, he will always be Dad; and, to his grandsons, Grandpa.

He retired from Eli Witt Wholesale Co. with forty years of service.

He had many health issues that plagued him for too many years. He fought hard and brave until the battle could not be won. We rejoice in knowing his pain is now gone; and, he is back to being the center of attention and the life of the party.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Trudie Hill; and brother, Frank Hill. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Owens Hill; two sons, Joseph “J” (Erika) Hill and Emmette “Sam” Hill; two grandsons, Dustin and Zachary “Worm” Hill; a brother Paul (Kaye) Hill; two sisters, Mattie (Raeford) Smith and Ruth (Garcie) McCall; and sister-in-law, Maybelle Hill; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Friday, September 13, 2013, 11am, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with Elder Milton Gunter officiating.
