In the early morning of June 15, Julie’s body let her go and those who love her are left with memories of her beauty, loving nature, creativity, wit, and devotion to family and friends.
A graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School and Appalachian State University, Julie worked 18 years for Clark-Powell, Inc., which has become an extension of the family. She and Monte married in 1994 and experienced their greatest joy in life at the birth of their son, Alan.
Those left behind to cherish Julie’s memory are her beloved son, Alan; devoted husband, Monte; loving sister, Connie (husband Rick and daughter Rachel); adoring parents Roby and Sandy (Vic); Monte’s parents Bonnie (Tim) and Don; two great aunts; cousins and step-brothers; and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to list.
We, Julie’s family, thank each nurse and nursing assistant who touched Julie with tender loving care, both at NC Baptist and Duke, and especially Dr. Grant Wright, Dr. David Hurd and Dr. Gwynn Long, whose unrelenting search for appropriate treatments gave us extra time with this remarkable woman.
A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Ramon Smith at College Park Baptist Church, 1701 Polo Rd, Winston-Salem, NC, (church phone 336-768-5870) Saturday, June 19, at 1:00 PM. A family and friends fellowship will be held at the church following the service.
Please consider the following for memorial gifts: Be The Match Foundation, in memory of Julia Walls Kiefer, to the attention of Addie Sanders at 6605 W. WT Harris Blvd, Suite L, Charlotte, NC 28269 (The stem-cell/bone marrow matching organization) and/or The Alan Kiefer Trust at the NC State Employees’ Credit Union.
