BERMUDA RUN- June Powell Hauser-Holmes died Friday, November 22, 2013 after an illness of several months. She had been a resident of Bermuda Village since 2013. She was the only child of Charles and Minnie Martha Powell born on June 20, 1926 in Birmingham, England. She was educated in British schools.
During WWII, she met her first husband, Fred D. Hauser. They were married in England on May 1, 1946. She then came to live in America as a “war bride”. Since coming to America, June has been a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. The couple had one child, Marcia Hauser Trenchard, who survives her. Mr. Hauser died in 1984.
In 1986 June married her second husband, Dr. George Holmes, who died in 1999. She decided to hyphenate her last name because both of her husbands were such fine men.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Marcia (William) Trenchard; two grandchildren, Susan Owens of Concord, NC and Matthew (Kelly) Trenchard of Clemmons, NC; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey Owens and Shelby Poston of Concord, NC and Noah and Levi Trenchard of Clemmons, NC.
June had two special friends in England who were like “sisters” to her: Rita Casey (Birmingham, England) and Joyce Schindler (Stratford-Upon-Avon, England); two special nieces, Ruby (Jerry) West of Bermuda Run, NC and Lynn Dean of Richmond, VA. June had two dear friends who helped her in so many ways, Bill and Tina Wharton of Mocksville, NC.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hauser-Holmes will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Centenary United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church parlor. Burial will take place at Forsyth Memorial Park immediately following the service.
Memorials may be made to: Storehouse for Jesus, 464 Depot St., Mocksville, NC; Salvation Army, 2850 New Walkertown Rd., W-S, NC; W-S Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 20424, W-S, NC 27120.
