Kay Redding Matthews

Kay Matthews, age 63, of Winston-Salem, died Friday, July 8th, 2016 at the Brian Center for Health and Retirement of Winston Salem after several months of declining health. Ms. Matthews was born in Forsyth County on July 17, 1952, to the late Robah Stokes Redding and Louise Spainhour Redding. In addition to her parents Kay was predeceased by her brother Wayne Redding. She was a devoted lifelong member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and found comfort in her Christian faith to the end. She is survived by her beloved daughters Melissa Matthews Harrision and husband Todd, of Portland, OR and Jody Matthews Schwartz and husband Adam, of Brooklyn, NY as well as by her brother Don Redding and his wife Phyllis, grandchildren Jade, Molly, Ryan, Kyle and Serena, and nephews Don (Heather) and Jamie (Amy) Redding. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at 12:00 noon at the Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 5460 Skylark Rd, Pfafftown, with Dr. Gus Thomas officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mineral Springs Baptist Church in her name.
