Mr. Shoemaker was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He was a personable person; those around him knew of his zest for life because he always made them laugh and smile.
He never met a stranger; everyone he met knew that he cared about them and he “loved” them because he made sure to tell them.
Mr. Shoemaker had a strong work ethic. This was shown through his dedication to his business, Northside Glass Co., which he owned for over 32 years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Shoemaker was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Burbank; and brother, Bill Shoemaker.
Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife, Mary Shoemaker; son, Troy Shoemaker (June); daughters, Robin Goode, Tammy Davis (Greg), and Tina Tuttle; brothers, Maurice Shoemaker and Richard “Bud” Shoemaker; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011, 2:00 p.m., at Lexwin Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Goff officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 9, 2011, 6:00-9:00 p.m., at Vogler and Sons Reynolda Chapel.
Interment will be at Walkertown Gardens of Memory.
