Mildred Louise Anderson Arney, known to those she cherished as Louise Arney, was received by her Father in Heaven at 5:30 AM on June 6th 2015, just one month short of 90 years old. Louise was a vibrant, head-strong woman who blessed those she cared for with immense love, devotion, and joy. She was born in Winston-Salem on July 15th 1925 to the proud parents of Bert Lester Anderson (d. August 27, 1970) and Al Verda Adams Anderson (d. October 30, 1968). She was the third child and daughter of six children: Vila Anderson Cothren (d. April 10, 2013), Virginia Anderson Joins (deceased), Marie Anderson Horn, Lester Eugene (Gene) Anderson (d. June 6, 2013), and Jerry Dean Anderson (d. December 5, 2013). They filled her childhood and life with the comfort and companionship that only a close family can provide and from which she gets her unwavering devotion to her family. She lived with her parents in the Alleghany County Mountains until they moved to Winston-Salem, NC where her mother ran a boarding house for a few years. The family then returned to the mountains of her childhood during the Great Depression. At the tender age of seventeen Louise left her family home to head for Baltimore. There she had the honorable job of Rosie the Riveter, building planes until the end of the war. After the war Louise returned to Winston-Salem where her life would change forever. There she met the man of her dreams and soul mate, her husband of twenty-four years, Daniel Alexander Arney (d. June 12, 1973). From the minute Dan saw Louise he knew she was the one he wanted to spend his life with; he just had to convince her. They were married on June 18, 1949 and had two children, Michael Craig Arney (Karen) and Sheila Louise Arney (Thomas). Dan made sure he provided a good life for his wife and children and never denied them any wish they had. The couple opened several restaurants but the Old Richmond Grill was the one that sustained Louise for most of her life. Even though Louise had been raised in a Christian home it wasn’t until shortly after her marriage to Dan that she truly felt the presence of God in her life. On a trip to visit her sister, Virginia, Louise devoted her life to God and was saved in the early 1950’s. She lived her life loving the Lord and placed her complete trust in him to guide her through life as Proverbs 3:5-6 says: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” As she went through life following God in the best way she knew how, she found the greatest strength in Calvary Baptist Church as her second family. When Dan passed away her faith in Jesus helped her get through this trying time in her life although she would miss him for the next forty-two years until she could reunite with him in Heaven. In the last few years of life she moved from her family home of almost 50 years to Greensboro, NC to be close to her children. Louise led a full and successful life and gave the full thanks to God for blessing her with so many years. She left behind not only her children but her seven grandchildren: Carley Arney Mann (Brian), Daniel Alexander Arney (Lauren), Alexandria Nicole Arney, and Amanda Michelle Arney through her son Michael and Christian James Arney Rassette, Nicholas James Arney Rassette, and Carolyn Danielle Louise Rassette through her daughter Sheila. She also left behind six great-grandchildren Alexis Nicole Hardin, Madison Lyann Hicks, Caroline Marie Mann, Lillian Grace Mann, Katie Rai Mann and Addisyn Kennedy Arney. She was about to meet her first great-grandson Silas Lima Rassette. There has never been a greater wife, mother, grandmother or great-grandmother than this amazing woman.
