
Marie Callahan Lux, 85, of Winston-Salem, died at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House on November 22 following a brief illness. She was born December 10, 1928 in El Paso, Texas, the youngest of five children, to Joseph and Margaret McHale Callahan. Marie grew up in Central Falls, Rhode Island where she attended Holy Trinity School and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. While she was still in high school Marie met Robert Lux who was the great love of her life. The two were wed several years later and were married for more than 63 years. In the course of their long married life they lived in many communities across the United States. In each of them, Marie was well-known and loved as a happy and giving person, always ready to help a friend, always willing to volunteer at her church and in her community. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who is greatly missed by her family and friends. Marie is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert, of Winston- Salem and by three daughters, Karen Ankerbrandt of North Beach, Maryland; Jo Ann West Gerst (Paul) of Winston-Salem; Regis Worsoe (Johs) of New York City; by six grandchildren: Kristen Ankerbrandt Vahia (Ojas); Matthew Ankerbrandt (Jordan);, Michael West (Erin); Robert West; Diana West and Nicholas Worsoe; and by two great grandchildren: Caroline and Patrick West. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 on Saturday, January 10 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons. There will be family visitation from 7 until 8 pm, January 9, followed by recitation of the Rosary, at Vogler and Sons Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Rd. Winston-Salem.
