Marion Frances Ghezzi, 88, died peacefully in her sleep on January 22nd, 2013. Marion was born in 1924 in New Britain, CT to Matthew and Frances Davies. She graduated from New Britain High School where she met the love of her life, Rudolph Dominic “Nick” Ghezzi. They were married in 1947 after Nick returned from serving in the Navy in World War II. She worked as an executive secretary for an insurance company in New Britain after high school and stopped working after the birth of her first child. Marion was a singer and sang at friend's weddings in her younger days. Her husband, Nick was a professional guitarist and salesman for the Stanley Works. The family moved to Winston-Salem in 1949 where she lived the rest of her life. Like most women of her generation she devoted her life to her family of five children and later became a devoted grandmother. Marion was raised in the Congregationalist Church, but agreed at marriage to raise her children in her husband's Catholic faith. Although she never converted to Catholicism, she was a “Forever” member of St. Teresa's Guild and was always very involved in St. Leo's Church and School which her five children attended.
Marion loved life and was very active playing bridge, reading, enjoying her grandchildren and generally enjoying life right up until her death. She will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and her brother William Davies. She is survived by her sister, Pat MacKeen of Florida, her daughters Sandra Nave and Janet Smith of Winston-Salem, her son Richard Ghezzi of Winston-Salem, her daughter Marilyn Ghezzi of Chapel Hill, NC and her daughter Carolyn Ghezzi of Raleigh, NC., her grandchildren, Steven, Sean and Briana Nave, Laura Kiser and Frances Beroset.
