

Marjorie Joyner Northup, 91 of Winston-Salem passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Trinity Elms. She was born October 17, 1929 to Martha Forman and John T. Joyner, Jr. She was married to Lamar Noble Northup who preceded her in death. Marjorie attended schools in Winston-Salem and graduated from Meredith College. She was active at St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she co-mentored 4 year seminary courses and enjoyed leading tours of the stained glass windows and the beautiful interior of the church. She served on the board of Samaritan Ministries and was active with the Forsyth Jail and Prison Ministry and Prodigals Community. Working for 25 years in education at Reynolda House Museum of American Art, she received state and national awards for the program, "Examining Our Prejudices by Looking at American Art." After retirement she continued working as a volunteer docent. Surviving are three children, Lisa Northup (Jeff Farley) of Cana, Virginia, Jan McLaughlin of Winston-Salem and Thomas Northup (Cheryl) of Lexington; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Georganne Boone (Gray) of Charlotte; and a brother, John T. Joyner of Asheville. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00 am.
