
Mildred was born December 29, 1924, in Yadkin County, a daughter to the late, William Henry Poindexter and the late, Ina Taylor Poindexter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Francis Johnson and eight brothers and sisters. She was a member of East Bend Friends Meeting. Mildred loved to cook and bake, she received numerous blue ribbons at the Dixie Classic Fair and her sugar cake recipe was featured in the Southern Living Magazine. The family especially her grandchildren enjoyed Mamaw’s family meals and always knew they were in for a special treat. She was a loving, dedicated, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by two children, John W. Johnson and wife, Susan of Kernersville and Martha J. Musten of Kernersville; six grandchildren, Keleigh Peck of Reidsville, Adam Johnson and wife, Samantha of Pace, FL, George Wesley Johnson of Roanoke, VA, Brandon Musten and wife, Lisa of Kernersville, Joseph Musten and wife, Emily of Kernersville, and Meridith Harmon and husband, Kenny of Winston-Salem; and six great grandchildren, Oliver, Everett, Piper, Lindsay, James, and Ronan; and a host of extended family and friends that loved her dearly.
A graveside service will be held 1 PM, Tuesday, May 5th at Farmington United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 until 12 noon Tuesday prior to the service at Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home, Reynolda Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to East Bend Friends Meeting, 128 Quaker Ave., East Bend, NC 27018.
