Nancy Ogburn Whitehead

Nancy Sue Ogburn Whitehead, 94, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born January 3, 1929 in Forsyth County to Thomas and Beulah Rector Ogburn. She loved golfing, reading, traveling, and all dogs. She was always giving to charities that involved dogs. Most of all Nancy loved her family. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid Moravian and loved everything Moravian, from the Lovefeast to the Candle Tea to Old Salem. She was a long time member with her husband with the Elks Lodge and long time member of Bermuda Run Golf and Country Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Whitehead who she was married to for 64 years. Her favorite place to go was Kiawah Island, SC, with Bob, her children, and grandchildren for over 35 years.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Maurice Ogburn, Mary (Sally) Welborn, Thomas Ogburn, Jr, Betty Wrenn, and Rachel Hooker.

She is survived by her daughters, Pam Love of Clemmons and Teresa (Terry) McInnis (husband Ron) of Lewisville. She is survived by grandson, Todd Love (fiancée Stephanie) of Raleigh; grandson Tim Love (wife Katie, great grandson, Bodi, and great granddaughter, Lennon), and granddaughter, Carly Lang (husband Michael, great granddaughter, Emery). She had nine nephews and two nieces. She also had a very loving extended family with the employees of South Fork Assisted Living in Winston-Salem.

Nancy’s health took a turn for the worse and she went to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home and was there only 8 days before God called her home to be with Bob and her beloved dogs. As she had told her daughters many times in the past, “when I finally go to heaven to be with Bob, he will have my golf clubs waiting for me so we can play our first round of golf in 9 years, and I can’t wait”.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
