

GUIDICE, Patrick, (Pasquale), age 94, originally of College Point, N.Y. died on November 15, 2012 in Winston-Salem, N.C., where he recently established residence. Mr. Guidice was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on January 30, 1918, the son of Angelina and Nicholas Guidice.
After graduating from high school he joined the United States Army and served in WWII as an anti-aircraft gunner aboard the Queen Mary troop ship. He also participated in the Battle of the Coral Sea and was decorated for that service. Following discharge he joined the N.Y. Sanitation Department as a Forman and after retirement worked as a machinist for the Edward Fields Company in Flushing, N.Y.
Mr. Guidice is predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Josephine, and baby granddaughter, Lauren Catherine Piazza, as well as brothers, Michael, Frank, John, Jerome, and sister, Mary Laresca. He is survived by his daughters, Marilyn Piazza and husband, John of Winston-Salem, NC, Geraldine Rushing and husband, Tom of Ararat, NC; four grandchildren, Kristen Amato and husband, Domenick of Bellmore, NY, Dr. Michael Piazza and wife, Wendy of Winston-Salem, NC, Matthew Faruolo of Denver, CO, and Joy Piazza of Brooklyn, NY. He is also survived by his wonderful sister, Frances Dascoli, and many loving nieces and nephews. His greatest delight was in sharing time with his great grandchildren, Dominick, John Paul and Raffaella Amato and Rachel, Anthony, Zachary, Gabriel and Irene Piazza.
Mr. Guidice loved music and played several instruments in local band in New York City. He was also an award winning ballroom dancer. As a young man he played minor league baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He lived a full and interesting life, always looking forward to the next adventure. Sleep warm, Poppi!
He will be sorely missed by all, including the members of the Hanac Angelo Petromelis College Point Senior Center, where he was an active member for over twelve years, and his new friends at Heritage Woods Senior Living Community in Winston-Salem.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Winston-Salem, NC on Monday, November 19, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at a later date at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Flushing, N.Y.
