Ralph was born August 24, 1938 in Forsyth County, to William Dale Reece and Ethel Boger Reece. After he graduated from South Fork School, he worked at Buddy McCormick Esso gas station, where he first met his wife, Peggy. They married on January 18, 1958, and soon after, he began his career of 19 years working for McLean Trucking. During those years, he was a loving father to 2 children. In 1988, he partnered with his son to begin a family-owned business, Reece's Landscaping & Lawn Service, which is still thriving today thanks to his hard work and dedication for 32 years. He retired in 2021 at 82 years old, and then devoted his time and attention care-giving for his wife, Peggy.
Not only was Ralph an extremely hard worker, but he was a humble man who was always there for his loved ones. He enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays with his family. He also loved having his "favorite" (only) granddaughter over for sleepovers when she was a child, being there for every milestone in her life, and spending every second that he possibly could with his great-grandson.
Ralph had a big sense of humor. He always made everyone laugh with his picking and kidding. He was a die-hard Nascar fan and loved watching races every Sunday after church. He grew up going to South Fork Baptist Church. He served on building & grounds and sang in the church choir for many years. Later in life, he became a member of Center Grove Church.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Templeton Reece, and his sister, Patricia Reece Lowder. Surviving are his son, Mark Reece (Cindy); daughter, Dawn Reece (fiancé Dale); granddaughter, Elizabeth Powell (Ben); and great-grandson, Carter Powell.
The family will have a time of visitation on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Center Grove Church from 4:00-6:00 pm. There will be a private graveside service officiated by Dr. Steve Corts on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
The family would like to thank Clemmons Village Care, Trellis Supportive Care and the Center Grove Church family for their care, support and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Lottie Moon International Mission in memory of Ralph.
