
Richard Fuller Wagner, 92, died and went to be with his Lord and Savior February 13, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born January 18, 1922 in Scranton Pennsylvania to the late Oscar William Wagner and Cora Fuller Wagner.
Upon graduation from high school, he attended Duke University in Durham, North Carolina and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. Upon graduation in 1942 he joined the United States Navy and served both active and reserve duty from 1942 to 1964 attaining the rank of Commander. During his time in the Navy he was awarded the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Metal with 4 Stars, China Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the Navy Occupation Service Medal. At the end World War II he went to work for and retired from the Bahnson Company in Winston-Salem, North Carolina after over 37 years of service.
Mr. Wagner is preceded in his passing by his wife of sixty three years Katherine Marie Wilkinson Wagner. He is survived by one daughter, Kathy Wagner Guthrie of Emerald Isle, NC; one son, Richard F. Wagner, Jr. and two grandsons, Nathan Wagner and Matthew Wagner of Pfafftown, NC. Mr. Wagner leaves a legacy of love and devotion to a beloved wife, providing and caring for his children, and a strong belief and faith in God and His Son, Jesus Christ.
A funeral service, celebrating his life, will be conducted on Saturday, February 22, 2014, 11:00AM at the Lewisville United Methodist Church, 6290 Shallowford Road, Lewisville (336-945-3203) with Rev. Keith Bingham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will visit from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service.
The family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to Regency Care of Clemmons North Carolina, the Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Palliative Care staff and Dr. Charles Stinson, and the staff of Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, for outstanding care in these the last days. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Cameron Williams and staff of Family Medical Associates of Lewisville for the outstanding care and attention shown our father over the years.
