

Robert was born on June 25, 1939, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Laddie Clay Nelson and his wife Ruby May Sullivan Nelson. Robert was one of four children: He had a brother, David, and two sisters, Vivian and Brenda.
Robert was married to Doris Peoples in Winston-Salem. He was blessed with a daughter, Susan. He also enjoyed the blessing of two grandchildren, Alicia Allen and Robert Drady, and three great-grandchildren, Lyra and Emelia Allen and Scarlet Drady.
Robert graduated from high school in Winston-Salem and was employed by the Lorillard Company in Greensboro. Robert was a member of Central Tabernacle in Winston-Salem. He was a magician and a collector of vintage magic and comic books. Robert enjoyed spending time with his brother David, who was a great help to him for the last few years.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan and her husband Roy Wilkie; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, David; his sister, Brenda.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, his parents, and his sister, Vivian.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 18th at 11:00AM at Frank Vogler & Sons, 2849 Middlebrook Drive, Clemmons, NC with Rev. Phillip Vangen officiating. Final Place of Rest will be Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
