
Ruby Knight Wilson Henderson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born in Forsyth County on May 9, 1924, to the late William Charles and Olivia Estelle Knight Wilson. Mrs. Henderson was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School and was employed with Retail Merchants Association following graduation. After her marriage to the late Marvin Lee Henderson (who passed away in 2000) she became a full-time homemaker and mother to her surviving children, Pamela Gail Henderson and Marvin Wayne Henderson, both of Winston-Salem, and then the grandmother to Chad, Callie and Rob Henderson, also of Winston-Salem. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
Mrs. Henderson is predeceased by all of her siblings, Leonard Wilson, Louise Wilson, Frances Sprinkle, Evelyn Blizzard, Doug Wilson and Polly McMillan.
For most of her life, Mrs. Henderson was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church where she taught the 4 year olds in Sunday School. She loved children, dogs, cats and birds. Her escapes were drawing, singing old hymns, crafts and cooking (baking).
Mrs. Henderson was an excellent caregiver to her beloved husband, parents, brother and sister and helped care for her mother-in-law for numerous years while all the time dealing with her own health challenges.
Funeral Services will be held in the Sanctuary of Ardmore Baptist Church on Miller Street on Sunday, October 31, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Christa Warise officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forsyth Memorial Park. The viewing and visitation will be held Saturday, October 30, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Vogler’s on Reynolda Road.

On behalf of Mrs. Henderson, a very sincere thank you to all of the doctors and staff at Hospice who so lovingly cared for our mother during the last weeks of her life. You are an incredibly caring group of people.
