
WINSTON-SALEM- Mrs. Ruby Carroll Hutchins, 92, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Regency Care of Clemmons. She was born April 5, 1921 in Forsyth County to the late Thomas and Bethenia Carroll and was a lifelong resident of Winston-Salem.
Mrs. Hutchins was a faithful member of Ardmore Baptist Church for 64 years. She was a member of the Lydia Sunday School class at Ardmore and helped with the decorating for the Senior Citizens Club each month. A loving mother and devoted wife to her soul mate Bill. She loved her family, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful seamstress, loved to travel, to garden and was a member of the Audubon Garden Club.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Bill” William Hutchins, her sister Mildred Little, and daughter-in-law Rosemary Hutchins.
Surviving are four children, James William Hutchins II of Clemmons, Carroll Peters (Stephen) of Clemmons, Susan Adams (Dr. Robert Adams) of Marshall, and Thomas Hutchins (Holly) of Seneca, SC; Seven grandsons, four great-granddaughters, and two great grandsons.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Ardmore Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Pastor Don Gordon will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at church.
The family is grateful for the excellent care provided by Regency Care in her last months. As well as the wonderful care at Trinity Elms at Tanglewood before she moved to Regency Care.
