
Winston-Salem-Sherman “Shine” Clarence Staley, 79, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Universal Health Care in King, NC. He was born September 25, 1932 in Forsyth County to Clarence Call and Bessie Ellen (Hackett) of Wilkes County, NC.
He was a loving husband to Willie Mae (Hoskins) Staley for 55 years. He served in the US Navy and retired after 34 years of service from R.J. Reynolds.
Mr. Staley is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Lloyd F. Staley and Claude T. Staley; sisters, Ethel (Jerri) Nichols, Mary Staley and Virginia (Jin) Jones; nephew, Michael E. Nichols and great nephew Rusty Harpe. In addition to his wife, Mr. Staley is survived by his daughters, Theresa (Teri) Staley and Toni Finch both of King; grandsons to “Pop”, SSgt. Michael Staley Finch (Katie) of Sumter, SC and Robert Call Finch of King; and several loved nieces and nephews.
Private family graveside services will be held at 2 PM today at Forsyth Memorial Park.
The family of Mr. Staley would like to express their appreciation for the care and compassion given to Shine and his family by the staff at Universal Health Care. The family also requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093.
