

Mrs. Shirley Jane Davis, 86, of Winston-Salem entered into eternity Tuesday afternoon, March 3, 2015, at Forsyth Medical Center, with her family by her side. After many struggles, she is now resting in peace.
Shirley was born in Algonac, MI on October 22, 1928 the daughter to the late William Hansel and Gladys Morrow Hansel. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Davis, and two sons, Bruce Davis and Donald Davis III.
Shirley always made Christmas and the holiday’s special from fun gifts for the family, to coloring dozens of Easter eggs, to a game of SkipBo when a crowd was around. There were many delicious Sunday dinners spent visiting around her table with us all, usually followed by afternoon naps. She enjoyed growing vegetables, flowers, and making sure all the birds at her house were fed. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a dedicated and proud homemaker, and always put raising her boys first.
She is survived by four sons, Kenneth Davis and wife, Teresa of Yadkinville, William Davis and wife, Lisa of Lexington, Robert Davis of the home, and Gerald Davis of Winston-Salem; six siblings, Harold Hansel, Judy Hall, Karen Styke, Marilyn Bowman, Don Hansel, and Frank Hansel; eight grandchildren, Ashton Davis, William “Billy” Davis, Brittany Reyes and husband, Chris, Kristen and Ashley Davis, Amanda Uhl and husband, Jonah, Grant Davis and wife, Brittany, and Chelsea Davis; and five great grandchildren, David, Maddie, Asher, and Hope Uhl, and Rylan Reyes.
A graveside service will be held 2 PM, Saturday, March 7th at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Pastor Ed Sears officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 12:30 until 2 PM prior to the service at Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home Clemmons Chapel.
