

WINSTON-SALEM – Waymoth Franklin “Frank” Boyd, Jr., 67, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born on September 15, 1942, in Winston-Salem, NC, to Waymoth Franklin Sr. and Fonzie Key Boyd. Mr. Boyd graduated from Central High School in Sanford, NC, in 1960. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 23 years of service. Mr. Boyd was an active member of First Assembly of God Church for 27 years. He led the Primetimers Ministry for 8 years and was a church office volunteer for 12 years. In 1995, he was awarded the Unheralded Church Servant Leadership Award. Mr. Boyd enjoyed fishing and Southern gospel music. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his beloved dog, Snappy.
Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ron Boyd. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Judy Stanley Boyd; a son, Darren Boyd; a daughter, Joy Boyd (Homer) Haithcock; three grandchildren, Brooke Boyd and Brianna Boyd and David Haithcock; a sister, Janice Thomas; a special mother-in-law, Irona Stanley; and his special canine companion, Snappy.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Boyd will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 2, at Voglers Reynolda Road Chapel. Interment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, at the Chapel.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Frederic Kahl and his staff at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for the care they showed Mr. Boyd.
