Adam Paul Warheit made the world a better place.
Armed with his inexhaustible positive attitude, Adam Paul Warheit spent the last several years in a private, but contentious, conflict with cancer. On August 25, 2024, Adam found peace. He is now in Gan Eden where, no doubt, he continues good deeds, acts of kindness, and shares his recipe for Better Than Average Banana Bread.
Adam is survived by his father Arthur, his sisters Karla (Tim) and Lisa (John), his niece Princess Stellina, and his three goofball nephews, Dominic, Ryan, and Aidan. Adam was predeceased by his mother Sandra.
During his years in Buffalo, NY, Adam had many friends, which was not surprising given his naturally friendly demeanor. Specifically, during his teenage years, Adam was known for his love of and talent for cooking, his covert (or suffer the wrath of Sandy) parties in the "backroom," and his embodiment of Scout Law: "A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent." No matter the situation—being held up at gunpoint (twice), having to climb to the roof of his garage to avoid being throttled with a frying pan by his mother, or crashing his cars (because speed limits were just suggestions, according to him), Ads went above and beyond for his family and friends, always with his infectious smile and laugh. And although he had a very giving soul (he would literally pull over in a blizzard to help someone change a tire or go hours out of his way just to help a friend in need), Adam was also fiercely loyal and protective of his family and friends.
When Adam decided to move to San Francisco, there were many unhappy family members and friends on the East Coast. But, deep down inside, we knew we couldn't keep Adam to ourselves; his generous heart needed new people and new experiences to spread his positivity and his unbelievable recipes. Adam's sunny disposition was infectious, and he never stopped his random acts of kindness. Because of this, Adam made many, many friends while living on the West Coast. But, in true Adam style, he still had enough love and time for family and friends back home.
Adam was a lot like the Energizer Bunny, always going, going, going… but instead of getting his energy from batteries, Adam was fueled by helping others. During his (much too short) 53 years, Adam freely and indiscriminately gave his time, his love, his friendship, his talents, his support, and his money to everyone in his life.
With that in mind, all those who knew and loved Adam, please continue Adam's determination to help anyone and everyone who comes across your life path. That is how, collectively, we can continue Adam's legacy while also making the world a better, happier place. And don't forget to always walk "On the Sunny Side of the Street," just as Adam did.
Lastly, although Adam never had children of his own, he was an uncle, a godfather, a mentor, and a role model to many kids, He was also passionate about creating comforting, quality recipes (and sharing them with as many people as possible), as well as aiding and cheering anyone in need, especially kids. So, in lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Adam may be made to the San Domenico Indexed Tuition & Scholarships Fund in support of need-based financial aid for San Domenico students.
