Anne B. Adamson died on January 7, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born on November 19, 1932, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Hyman and Eleanore Bronstein. In 1958 she married Charles Z. Adamson, son of May and Sam Adamson, also of Boston. Anne had three children: Daniel Adamson (spouse Karen Giacopuzzi), Eric Reuven Adamson (Chava Toffler) and Laura Saul (Howard Saul). Anne was preceded in death by her son Reuven (1991), husband Charles (2012) and brother Richard Bronstein (2025). She is survived by her son Daniel, daughter Laura, grandchildren Nechama, Gavriel Zev, Shaina, Chaya, Maria, Diane and Benjamin, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Anne attended public schools in Newton, Massachusetts. She graduated from Radcliffe College with a degree in English literature in 1954. After graduation she moved to New York City and worked for Dell Publishing as an editor and writer. While at Dell she appeared on an early version of NBC’s “Today Show,” interviewing the actor Robert Wagner.
Anne returned to Boston and married Charles in December 1958. Anne and Charles moved to Cleveland where he had a job as a trial attorney for the National Labor Relations Board. Anne lived for most of her life in Shaker Heights, Ohio, beginning in 1962 and until her passing. She was proud to be a resident of Shaker and worked for decades for the City on programs to support racial integration in housing and schools. This included the voluntary school busing program and fair housing office. She also served as the ombudsman for the City for many years. After her retirement she volunteered as a docent for the Cleveland Museum of Art.
Anne was a good friend, with many friendships that lasted most of her life. Her last home in Shaker was the Greenbriar Apartments on Van Aken Boulevard where she was part of what she called an “unintentional” community of residents who supported each other. Anne, always an excellent writer, authored the Greenbriar’s newsletter.
Anne was very well-read. Her other hobbies included completing the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle, walking, and swimming. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed attending concerts by the Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall and the Blossom Amphitheater. Anne was unusually intelligent, highly pragmatic and independent, and deeply devoted to her loved ones. She took great pleasure in her seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and was very involved in their lives.
