I am extremely saddened to know that one of my favorite and most-admired professors at C/M has deceased. Professor Landever was truly a kind, thoughtful, soft-spoken, caring and erudite person. He always greeted me with a big smile in his Con Law class or around the law building, and he was always patient answering and explaining any question we might have had about the law. His wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain.

Landever Family.  I have been a staff member at the College of Law for over 20 years.  While I never even had a conversation with Professor Landever, we passed each other in the halls weekly and always acknowledged each other with a warm friendly smile.  I will always remember him fondly as the bow tie Professor, who's reputation proceeded him as a caring and kind person who inspired and motivated so many law students to become honorable attorneys. I frequently took care of Arthur at Seidman Cancer Center. His sense of humor is memorable and always put a smile on my face!

In all the many years that our time overlapped at C|M, I never once saw (or heard of) Arthur losing his patience, his temper, or his empathy. He was amazing that way. Even when he strenuously disagreed with a colleague, he would respond quietly, with a kind smile and a calm assessment. And he wasn't merely being strategic in his manner. He actually tried to see things from the point of view of others. To me, he exemplified the line from "To Kill a Mockingbird": "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view ... until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." I confess that sometimes I have a hard time doing that, but Arthur never did. He was a real role model for both his colleagues and his students. Deborah A. Geier (Cleveland-Marshall College of Law)

Arthur's kindness and many contributions to the life of the law school - from  his teaching of constitutional law to shepherding the work of the curriculum committee - will always be remembered by those of us who knew him.  In retirement his Great Stories program provided a unique approach to continuing legal education and an opportunity to reunite with like minded attorneys and scholars  to once again experience his gentle and thoughtful approach to the law. All of us will miss him!

He was a welcoming and generous-spirited man. He loved the law and the classroom and was unfailingly respectful of his students and the men and women who taught with and worked with him. I loved to hear his bold laugh echoing down the hall and I will miss his playfulness and boundless cheer.

No finer man.  Unwavering integrity and honesty always with a unique sense of humor.

Arthur was a wonderful friend and colleague at Cleveland State University and  its College of Law. A superb scholar in Constitutional Law and Legal Ethics, he was always enthusiastic about helping his younger and less-experienced colleagues understand the law and its workings. He was beloved by his students, some of whom, as alumni, still ask for him. As a member of our faculty he was always the voice of reason and recognized by all as a true gentleman. We will miss him and we express our sincere condolences to his family for their loss.

It brings sadness to all at the loss of this kindest man I have ever met. He was the mensch of all mensches and we will all miss him terribly. Arthur, thank you for letting me know you. Condolences to his beautiful family.
