March 26, 1944 – September 30, 2025
With deep sorrow and love, we announce the passing of Bernard Joel Grossman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully at the age of 81 on September 30,2025.
Born in 1944 to Sylvia More and Maurice Grossman, Bernard lost his father at a young age but was blessed to be raised by his devoted stepfather, Ernest Gross.
Bernie lived a full life rooted in family, community, and simple joys. He was a devoted husband to Lynn, his partner of 60 years, and a proud father to Michelle Ives (Andrew) and Julie Leeson (Michael). Together, they shared countless memories, including summer road trips in the family’s pop-up camper — adventures filled with history, laughter, and love.
For nearly 35 years, Bernie co-owned Abbey’s Photo with his business partner Chris Friedberg, turning his passion for photography into a livelihood. More than a business, his shop became a community gathering place, where his warmth and gift for connection touched many lives.
An avid cyclist, Bernie found joy and freedom on two wheels. His frequent rides reflected his balance, mindfulness, and zest for life.
His greatest joy, however, was being Grandpa or “Pop Pop” to his four grandchildren — Zachary Ives, Samantha Ives, Morgan Leeson, and Jake Leeson. He delighted in their milestones, cheered on their successes, and filled their lives with stories and love.
Bernie was a cherished brother to Larry Gross (Judi), Loren Grossman (Marcia), and Phyllis Burk (Mel), sharing lifelong bonds of love and support.
He will be missed more than words can express.
