Dear Karen, Brian, Betsy and Katie:

Please accept my sincere sympathies over the loss of your father.

Bruce and I first met through a high school friend of mine - Bob Kurlander.  Bruce and Bob attended  Tulane University in the late 60's, and were room mates for a while  . Whenever Bruce and I got together in Cleveland he joked and we laughed about his adolescent behavior during those years.

Bruce and I became friends, he was a big fan of East Coast Custard, and when I accumulated a few dollars, I hired Bruce to manage our money.  

At that time Bruce was with Morgan Stanley.  He was an outstanding money manager, he taught me a lot about investing.  
True to form, however, Bruce was a maverick. Though he adhered to Morgan Stanley guidelines and resources, he became enamored with Warren Buffet and Berkshire Hathaway and invested most (maybe all) of his funds with the legendary Buffet. 

Bruce was categorical about investing with Buffett and he had the courage ( and data) for his conviction.  I was much less courageous.

Bruce invited Roz (my  wife) and I to his beautiful home for cookouts. He and Karen were exceptionally hospitable. Betsy and Katie were, and still are adorable, Bruce never failed to say how lucky he was to have such smart and wonderful children.

Bruce had a self-deprecating sense of humor. He was  humble, and he was hilarious. To be around Bruce was always a good time.  He was good at laughing at himself, at life, and when you were with him, his laughter was contagious.

My deepest condolences and sympathy to the Marks family, 
I have known Bruce for almost 30 years, 
I met him when I owned a shoe shining business and then opened a cleaning company,   and I began cleaning for him and his family. 
We had so many wonderful conversations over the years and we became very good friends ,
 I would ask him about business advice and we would talk a lot about God, our families and life.  
Over the years I saw many changes in him and in his later years of his life he made a decision that the only thing he wanted to do was help others improve their lives and he began to go to the temple more and his relationship with God was very important to him, and his perspective became very different from his younger years when he was in his career.
 He  set up a small desk in his living room and would tutor the little girl next  who lived door, she  was from Jamaica so she would have a better chance of succeeding in life. 
When I would come to clean for him, our first hour or so we would sit and chat and catch up, we talk about spiritual things and life. 
There were times he would call me out of the blue and ask me something about spiritual things and then he would say I may have been 6th in my class but you are the smart one because you get it. 
One thing he made clear was the Love he had for his wife and family and the last I saw him he said to me Sue do you see what God has done with this cancer. 
He knew that God was working everything together for good. 
Everyone he loves was with him, he knew that was the most import thing in his life. 
My sincere condolences to the Marks family Rest in peace my friend I am surly going to miss you 😢

I often remember all the fun we had long ago as next door neighbors. May his memory be a blessing.
I’m sure Stuart and Bruce will find each other and discuss the world!!!

To Bruce's wonderful family and others who knew and loved him:
Bruce and I were friends and colleagues for so many years.  We shared a love for our Avalons, a good meal and golfing at Hawthorne Valley CC, although never were we ever Club champs.  Bruce advised many concerning their financial planning and, when we did seminars together, I added information about estate planning.  Still, the best conversations we ever had were over lunch at the Club and later at Corky's, where we met frequently.  He had a great sense of humor and we laughed together often, even when our discussions were quite serious and meaningful.  We shall all miss him, each of us for our own reasons to be sure.  May his memory be a blessing to all of us, especially to his children and grandchildren.

Betsy, Katie, Maddie, Karen and Brian,
    I am so terribly sorry for your loss.  An incredibly  special man is no longer with us.  He was devoted to his family.   Bruce was remarkably likeable and smart.  His manner of speech was calm and inviting.  With that warm baritone voice, Bruce would gently pull you into his orbit with such intriguing stories.  I was always happy to see him.   I know you all  loved him dearly and my heart breaks  for the void in your lives.  May his memory be for blessing.
