Charlotte Z Malkin

C. ZERDA MALKIN (nee Cohen) age 89, died September 26, 2016 at Menorah Park in Beachwood, OH. Born April 10, 1927 and raised in Oil City, PA. She was a wonderful mother who is survived by two sons and a daughter, five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She was the devoted wife of Irving Malkin for 69 years. She is the sister of Marvin Cohen, now deceased. Zerda worked at the VA for many years retiring in 1985. She had a bachelor’s of arts from Cleveland State University with a major in English and earned a master’s degree of Hebrew Language from Siegal College. Zerda lived in Cleveland since 1943. She and her husband owned Shorehaven cottages at Pymatuning Lake in Pennsylvania for many years. In addition, she taught religious school at Temple Ner Tamid and Temple Emanu El for over 30 years. She volunteered as a trail monitor and gift shop operator for the Cleveland Metro Parks System. She also volunteered at RH Meyers apartments assisting the elderly with their tax filings through AARP and tutored students at Roland Elementary School. She along with her husband won an award from the Ohio governor’s office for their volunteer service. Zerda is survived by her husband Irving; children Greg (Karen Tucker), Bob (Alexi Gruber), and Delle Rayner; grandchildren Leah Villalobos, Hal Lange (Heather), Shaina Malkin (Ben Kneen), Rebekah Malkin, and Jacob Malkin; and great-grandchildren Aurora and Alex Lange, Jeremiah, Sonya and Christopher Villalobos, and Alice Kneen. Services will be held at BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1985 S. TAYLOR RD., CLEVELAND HTS. on Wednesday, September 28, at 10 AM. Interment Mt. Olive Cemetery. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING BURIAL UNTIL 3 PM the family will receive friends at Menorah Park, 27090 Cedar Rd, Beachwood. Thereafter the family will receive friends at the home of Greg Malkin, 4146 Giles Rd, Moreland Hills WEDNESDAY FROM 5 TO 8 PM AND THURSDAY FROM 4 TO 7 PM.
