To Dave's family:  I was sorry to learn recently from the UMichigan Law School alumni magazine about Dave's passing so young.  I was a year ahead of him and lived across the hall.  His sardonic and quick wit, his laughter, and his car with "auto-track" to the harness track, will always be among my favorite memories of Ann Arbor.  I was sorry we did not keep in touch.  But I'm not surprised to see how loved he was by family, friends, and colleagues.

We were so very saddened and truly shocked to learn about your family's loss.  Although we were recent friends, we felt a kinship the first time we met David; he was so very easy to like.  Margie and I always looked forward to the occasions in which we would have the opportunity to spend time with each of you.

David was a kind soul.  One couldn't help but feel how intensely proud David was of his family as well. You could simply see it in his eyes as they glistened when he spoke of either you or his daughters and the latest accomplishments of the group.

We will miss David's wonderful sense of humor, quick wit and sage advice.  Our deepest sympathies to you and your family.

David was a brilliant, good man who will be sorely missed.

David, our paths did not cross long but I'm glad we had the time we did. Your humor, intelligence, grace, and wisdom stand as an example to us all.
