

DOLORES MAE "DEE" COHEN (nee Gorman) age 85, was born December 7, 1931 and passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 in Boynton Beach, Florida after a short illness. Born Dolores Mae Gorman in Braddock, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh, Mrs. Cohen moved with her family to Cleveland when she was 16 and graduated from John Adams High School. In 1953 she wed Calvin J. Cohen, and they were married for 64 years, until his unexpected death on September 30 of this year. Dolores volunteered with several organizations including, for many years, as an usher with the Cleveland Playhouse. She made Cleveland her home for life, although she and Cal traveled far and wide, including Israel, Europe, China, the Caribbean and throughout the United States. For the past two months she had been living with her daughter, Nancy Rich, in Boynton Beach. She was greatly enjoying daily activities in the Volen Center's life-enrichment program for seniors. She fell ill with the flu on Nov. 19 while returning from a trip to Cleveland to prepare her and Cal's home for sale. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Nat Gorman, a veteran of World War I and Julia (Wise) Gorman, along with her husband Cal. She is survived by: sister-in-law Margie (Burt) Rothman of Lyndhurst, OH; daughter Nancy Rich of Boynton Beach, FL and son Edward (Susan "Ribble") Cohen of Reno, NV; Dolores was the loving grandmother of Jaime (Jody) Vining of Pembroke Pines, FL, Amanda (Mark) Waks of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Zachary (Ashley) Rich of Hollywood, FL, Brittany (fiancee Mark Adelman) Rich of New York City, Scott Cohen of Brooklyn, NY, and Kelly (Maciej Mazurowski) Cohen-Mazurowski of Durham, NC; and great-grandchildren Dylan and Mason Vining and Benjamin Waks. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation or the Volen Center of Boca Raton, FL. A funeral service was held November 29, at Rubin Memorial Chapel in Boynton Beach,FL, followed by shiva in the Cobblestone Creek development on Lyons Road (directions to the home will be provided at the gate house). Graveside funeral services will be held in Hillcrest Memorial Park, 26700 Aurora Rd., Bedford Heights, OH at 2 PM Friday, December 1.
