He leaves behind a legacy of extravagant party making, an unwavering devotion to the city of Cleveland, and generosity beyond measure.
A visionary in his field, Harlan was deeply committed to his work and the people who created all that was Executive Caterers at Landerhaven. The celebrations and life events created by his team were nothing short of magical, leaving lasting memories for all who attended.
He was preceded in death by his beloved younger brother, Dr. Michael Diamond, and his cherished parents Dr. Leo and Babe Diamond. Harlan is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Michelle Baker (Jeff). Michelle and Harlan share the same sparkly eyes and sharp sense of humor. As “Papa Harlan” to Cam and Andy Baker, he found immeasurable joy in their company. He was simply adored by his three nieces, who proudly call themselves the “Diamond Girls”. Cheri Pollack (Rob), Marcy Lanier (Hunter), and Robyn Diamond (Bob). His ten great nieces and nephews consider him their most famous relative, as he was honored with the key to the city of Cleveland. Harlan was dearly loved by his best friends and cousins, Penny and Bill Zell, with whom he shared countless stories, laughter, and cherished memories. Their sons and families shared many holidays and special occasions together. His devoted partner was Janie Belsito, who preceded him in death. Janie’s daughter, Linda Moldovan, tirelessly and selflessly always cared for him and was there for him. He thought of her as a daughter. Over his nearly 91 years, he had the burden of saying farewell to many of his lifelong friends, including his beloved Irish Wolfhounds. Later in life, Harlan was fortunate to find love again with “the girl next door”, Maureen Viscomi, who filled his days with dancing, singing, and a renewed zest for life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his many caregivers, led by Claudia Lamont, a former employee at Landerhaven, and a dear friend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Harlan by practicing random acts of kindness, and consider donating to the charity of your choice in his name. May his memory be a blessing to ALL who were a part of his life and legacy.
