Jacob Ratmansky

Jacob Ratmansky,88, of Cleveland,Ohio passed away on March 17, 2025, after suffering catastrophic injuries in a car accident. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Fira Ratmansky, his parents, and his younger brother, Sasha, who died exactly 10 years before him. He was born in Kyiv, Ukraine on June 5, 1936 and studied mechanical engineering at the Kyiv Institute of technology, but he was an artist at heart. Jacob was happiest when he was creating something: writing poetry and music, painting, singing or performing, videotaping many parties, and generally being in the midst of one.

Jacob is survived by his son, Alexander; granddaughter, Angela (Daniel) Khaytman; brother-in-law, Nathan Olbinsky (Anna, deceased); sisters-in-law, Mila Olbinsky (David, deceased) and Anna Ratmansky; niece, Regina Olbinsky (Ray Sussel); nephews, Igor and Dima Ratmansky; and a host of dear friends. He was one of a kind and will be missed by all those who knew him.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel,1985 South Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights. Internment at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, 6576 White Rd., Cleveland. No flowers, please.
