John is survived by his lifelong love, Joanie (Barbash) Boyko.
He was the sole son of Rose Mary (Hayes) Boyko and John Boyko Sr., who predeceased him. John had one sibling, Susanne (Boyko) Platte (John), two nieces, and one nephew, eight grandnieces, grandnephews, and numerous cousins, all of whom cherished him. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the hospice team at Daughters of Miriam for their compassionate care during John’s final days.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, John graduated from Parma High School in 1966. He pursued his aspiration of becoming a chemical engineer, obtaining his bachelor’s degree from Cincinnati School of Applied Science and subsequently studying at Cleveland State University. John possessed exceptional aptitude in mathematics and science, relishing the opportunity to engage in intellectual challenges with his family and friends. He proudly served the United States Army.
John and Joanie exchanged vows on June 30, 1974, a union that endured for over five decades. Traveling to Israel was a cherished milestone in his life. An ardent supporter of both the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Guardians, he harbored unwavering optimism for both teams. His sharp wit and dry sense of humor will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew him.
John’s career in the fields of science and technology proved instrumental in his professional journey. He was a dedicated employee of Air BP, where he maintained a longstanding and honorable relationship. Numerous conversations with his colleagues revolved around his years of service with the company.
A private graveside service will be held on January 2, 2026. A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.
