Very sorry to hear about Mal.  What a great show competitor he was!  Always a gentleman. I remember many great times with the family. He will be missed and remembered!

You are missed, Mr. Shoham! Thank you to both Mr. and Mrs. Shoham for their friendship to my family, the Virostkos, their neighbors. Mr. Shoham and my father used to play racquetball at the YMCA, before they both got bad hips. The Shohams always kept their home, barn, animals and all of their property so beautifully  - a testament to their energy and care to detail even in their later years, and to their helpful next door neighbor, Brian. I feel honored to have been trusted to care for their orange tabby cats and horses a few times while I was in high school when they were out of town, to have the chance to ride Kellyboy, his thoroughbred jumper horse, to see his trophy room full of trophies, plaques and photos of him and his horses in younger days and to get to know them. He always spoke of his family with love. I feel like I learned so much from him and felt challenged and encouraged by him to always do my best. My condolences and blessings to his family.

Sending heartfelt condolences on the passing of Mal.  I know my parents enjoyed his company and I remember visiting your home and seeing the horses. Mal was a special man and will be missed!!!

Mal is gone and will be forever missed, but his memory will be with those who knew and loved him always and forever.

It is with great sadness, Lucy that Kenny and I express our condolences to you, Randi. and Greg.  Mal was an incredible man with an incredible spirit and we will miss him always.  I learned so much from him and not just about horses, but how to be a good person.  I often speak of him and "Red" when reminiscing with some of the old time horse people.  He will be missed but we know he's jumping the big fences in heaven.

My Dearest Grandpa,
I struggle to find the words of what to say. I have missed you so much throughout the years, as the distance has kept us apart, and am forever regretful that the timing never worked out for you to meet your only 3 Great-Grandchildren, which I know that you so longed to meet.  I am saddened that being in Europe is keeping me from saying 'good-bye' to you properly, but I have to know and believe that I will see you again, one day.  That you will get the chance to hold my children in your arms and give them a huge hug! I'll never forget your contagious smile nor your moments of outright goofiness!  Goodness, I loved it when you were silly! I will also remember you for your strength & persistence, and for teaching me by example (at such a young age) the importance of being active & eating healthy. I look over my wedding video and see a wide, radiant smile on your and Grandma's face. It warms my heart to see how proud of me that you are.  Grandma told me the story of the artwork that I drew when I was young, and you making copies and hanging them throughout the home.  It touches my heart to hear it so.  Thank you for raising 2 amazing children who are hard-working, loving, and respectful.  Thank you for taking care of Grandma & loving her the way that you did (and always will). You will forever have a piece of my heart.  Until we meet again, Grandpa...  <3  Love you.

Dear Dad,

You taught me the importance of integrity.  I learned to be honest in dealing with my fellowman,  the importance of a handshake, and living as to not disparage the family name.  Shakespeare wrote, â€œTo thy own self be true.â€  This would be a fitting epithet for you.

 I believe it was the poet Wordsworth who wrote,  â€œOur birth is but a sleep and forgetting:  The Soul that rises with us, our life's star, Hath  had elsewhere it's setting, and cometh from afar:  Not in entire forgetfulness, and not in utter nakedness,  But trailing clouds of Glory do we come from God, who is our home:   Heaven lies about us in our infancy!.â€  In Ecclesiastes, we read,  â€œThen shall the dust return to the earth as it was and the spirit shall return unto to God who gave it.â€  A glorious thought!

To the "Darling of the Geritol Set" and the best role model a woman could have for becoming independent, strong, and valuing play. Dad, you are loved and will be forever missed. Thanks for teaching me the values of courage, honesty, and fair play.
