Marc R. Frisch, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at the age of 101. Born on January 24, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio, Marc's long and meaningful life was defined by resilience, service, curiosity, and deep love for his family and community.
Marc was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Betty, and his brother, Jerry. He is survived by his loving children: Shelly (Bill), Scott (Susan), and Hank (Marcella); grandchildren David and Matthew; and two great-grandchildren. In later years, Marc found companionship and joy with his partner, Phyllis Melnick.
A proud World War II veteran, Marc served with honor as a sergeant and forward observer in the 56th Battalion in France. His courage during one of history’s most defining moments was a testament to his unwavering strength of character. A memorial brick at the National World War II Museum commemorates his brave service.
After the loss of his beloved wife Betty in 1971, Marc exemplified his lifelong motto: “Keep moving forward.” He embarked on a new journey in 1974, relocating to Asia for a position with Bobbie Brooks. In his later years, Marc dedicated much of his time to volunteer work. He offered comfort and guidance to others as a library volunteer at The Gathering Place, where he also shared his personal story of surviving prostate cancer.
Marc also embraced photography and technology with remarkable enthusiasm. At the age of 100, he regularly FaceTimed with family, explored the world through Google Earth, photoshopped and printed photos and maintained his own YouTube channel. His boundless curiosity and adaptability were hallmarks of a life lived fully and fearlessly.
