

MAURY FEREN died peacefully on Saturday, February 20th, 2016, surrounded by his family and friends, five months after celebrating his 100th birthday. Maury is a World War II Army veteran. He was born in New York on September 27, 1915, and married for 67 years to Bess (Nagelbush) Feren prior to her death in 2006. He is the recipient of many awards and civic acknowledgements, having been active in the community for many years. His latest award was the French Legion of Honor. He was predeceased by his brothers Harold (Myrna), Asher (Margorie) and his sister, Pearl (Jerome) Kabb. He is survived by his daughter, Shelley (Martin) Yonas of Kiawah Island, SC and his son, Dr. Alan (Carol) Feren of Mill Valley, CA; grandchildren Lorrie (Robert) VanBuskirk of Charlotte, NC, Deborah Yonas of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Amy Feren of Boise, ID and Dr. Michael (Lisa) Feren of San Diego, CA and his great-grandchildren Becca and Lindsey VanBuskirk, Asher and Ayla Feren. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, February 23 at BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1985 S. TAYLOR RD., CLEVELAND HTS. Private interment for family only at Bet Olam Cemetery. The family will receive friends TUESDAY FROM 4 TO 8 PM, WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY FROM 5 TO 8 PM at 3701 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland Hts. in the Community Room.
