Debbie, Sending condolences to you and the Barson family.

My deepest sympathies on the passing of Mr. Barson, I enjoyed seeing him at Council Meetings and his dedication to the City he lived in.  Mr. 
Barson always had great stories and oh how he loved his wife Betty.   I will miss him.

Mr. Barson was a dear friend to all at Beachwood City Hall. He was kind, civic-minded, very patriotic, and always had a story for you. His legacy will always be the project we worked on to get the steel piece from NYC, the 9-1-1 memorial that the Fire Department mounted for all to see and remember. My condolences to Betty and the Barson family. He was one of the best!

I feel blessed that our paths crossed on the 6-19-13 Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C.  I remember seeing Betty, Jack, Jack's wife, and their sons at the airport to welcome him back that night.  He might have had the biggest welcome home group of all of the veterans that day.  Dick was obviously loved deeply by his family.

I didn't realize it at the time, but this day would be the start of a special friendship with Dick and his lovely wife.  Dick touched my heart in a very special way.  I will remember him for his charity to others, interesting stories, memorabilia, and goodies from his garden.  Dick also made an impact on the students I teach by visiting my Cleveland classroom in honor of Veteran's Day 2013.  I wish the last few years were easier for him and his family.

Dick's legacy will live on through every life he touched.  Being his Honor Flight guardian was one of the best experiences of my life.  That is the impact he had on others.  He will be missed.  I hope sadness can one day be replaced by fond memories of Dick.

Thank you for letting me know about Dick's passing.  Although we never met, because of distance, I appreciated his friendship via "snail mail" and email over the past almost 20 years.   My sincere condolences to the family, especially at this time.
