Dear Lee and Paula and our family,
I am so deeply sorry to hear Aunt Rose is gone. I loved them all -- but Aunt Rose had a special place in my heart. I named our bookstore after her! Trips to Philadelphia were always very special. I remember everyone laughed a lot and sang and played the piano.

visit from New York -- A nice lady!
In reading memories, I learned more about her passions:
The Jumble ( me too) and her love of singing and music (Yes!)

I already knew of her children's love, devotion and caring for her

I am so sorry for your loss.  I have fond memories of visiting your home during high school days and talking with your mom.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Theresa and Lee,
I am so sorry for your loss. My Mother and Father, Anne and Nat, adored your mother as did my brother Alan and I. She and my mom had a special relationship as my mom helped to raise Aunt Rosie, as we called her. 
She loved banter and to spar linguistically, enjoying puns as well. Music and movie stars were always a great topic and of course she could sing. Your mom and dad were  so kind and generous to me when my husband died suddenly. My boys were only one and two years old. I was just 30.  We always enjoyed amazing hospitality whenever we visited. 
She was and always will be an angel.

She was always so so so nice to me whenever I would come over
Even when Paula and Lee were not there she insisted I eat something and sit and Kibbutz with her

Aunt Rose was as sharp and kind as they come. She loved language and word games – I recall watching her fill out the daily “Jumble” in the Plain Dealer when I was young, wowing me by unscrambling words about as fast she could read them. She memorized the Declaration of Independence as a kid, and it never left her. I remember as a young man, telling her things she already knew–mansplaining before there was a word–then getting a raised eyebrow and a perfectly neutral “Yeah?” that gently told me I was out of my depth.

In later years she’d and my Grandma Rose would go to the store, and I’d hear rollicking stories of Rose and Rose two elderly widows trying braving the world and staying in their lane long enough to reach the supermarket. Or, as Aunt Rose would have said, staying in their “columns.” I remember her interest in my taking up the ukulele about 20 years ago, singing along to “Button Up Your Overcoat” and “Do, Do Something.” I told her that the uke was tuned a bit like a guitar. Aunt Rose raised her eyebrow and said “yeah?” It turns out that she didn’t just sing, she used to play. I should have known! 


Dear Lee and Theresa,

To me, your mom is still "Aunt Rosie."  I remember her as a smart, loving aunt with a wry sense of humor. She loved to sing and joke in the "old days" at Cooper family gatherings.

I was very young when Aunt Rosie (and Aunt Clara) moved to Cleveland. I remember feeling sad that she would be so far away from Philly.  But then, to my great joy, my Dad announced that we were going to drive 8 hours to visit her.  What an adventure!

I recall that your mom treated me like a prince during our several visits.  She would ask me specifically what I like to eat, drink, etc.  She made me feel like I was her favorite!

Lee, Theresa & Paula, I was so sorry to learn of Rose's death.  I had met her on several occasions during the many years I worked at Riemer, Blum and it was always a pleasure speaking with her.  You are in my thoughts at this difficult time.

So sorry for your loss at this already difficult time.  Debbie and I hope you will find comfort and strength in beautiful and lasting memories.
