

Stuart was born on October 28, 1941, to Charles and Ida Trager. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, known for his dedication to his family and his community. He spent 60 wonderful years married to his devoted wife, Karen, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, memories, and adventures. Together, they built a home and a family that will continue to honor his legacy.
Stuart enjoyed a successful career with MetLife, where his work ethic and commitment were well-regarded by all who knew him. Outside of his professional life, Stuart embraced a variety of passions. He was a lifelong fan of Westerns and Roy Rogers, professional wrestling and comic books, and enjoyed the thrill of storytelling and imagination. Stuart also loved the open road, embarking on many cross-country trips with his family, always seeking new places to explore. A lover of sports, he found camaraderie and joy in the game of softball, where he formed lifelong bonds with teammates. At any chance he could, he loved to tell you about his esteemed "curve ball" in softball. Stuart was also a proud past chancellor of Owatonna Knights of Pythias #62, where he was deeply involved in the community.
Stuart is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; his son, Steven Trager; and his daughter, Kathy Bilinski (Michael). He will be deeply missed by his nephews, Lee Sandler (Carmen) and Brian Sandler (Jenni), as well as his grandniece, Avery, and grandnephew, Holden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ida Trager, and his sister, Jaclynn Sandler.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Berkowitz Kumin and Bookatz Memorial Chapel, with interment to follow at Mayfield Cemetery. Shiva will be held following interment from 2-6pm at Woodhawk Club House, 202 Quail's Roost, Mayfield Heights, OH 44124.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Congregation Mishkan Or, the Alzheimer’s Association, the Kidney Foundation, or charity of choice.
Stuart’s kindness, sense of humor, and zest for life will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. He was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
