TEMMA BELINKOFF JACOBS, age 98, died peacefully February 20, 2012 in Rancho Mirage, CA. Survived by sons, Alan (Barbara Blade) Jacobs and Louis (Robin Thomas) Jacobs; grandchildren, Leah (Brian) Nishi, Ezra Thomas, and Marcus Jacobs; great-granddaughter, Marley Thomas; cousin, Adar Belinkoff; and nieces and nephews of three generations who adored her for being their plain-spoken, fun, empathetic, stylish, loving, and thoroughly modern Aunt Tem. Preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Jacobs; daughter, Linda Jacobs; granddaughter, Sallie Thomas; sister, Ida Tamarkin; brothers, David Belinkoff and Herbert Belinkoff; the Jacobs Sisterhood; and her brothers-in-law. She graduated Roosevelt High School in Youngstown, Ohio, orchestrated dances and mixers for Zeta Iota Pi sorority with lifelong friend, Mildred Nathan, and later for the Variety Girls Club, and worked as a secretary and in millinery sales and design. She then married her beloved Mickey and toiled in the family business, the Alliance News Company in Alliance, Ohio, before moving to Columbus, Ohio, to teach her grandchildren how to play poker, appreciate homemade matzoh ball soup, and other life lessons and to brighten the social scene at Knightsbridge Forum. In 2003, she accompanied Louis and Robin to California. Before her health declined, she achieved a hole-in-one, made friends with all who knew her, and enjoyed traveling, slot machines, crossword puzzles, mysteries and romance novels, bingo on cards she memorized due to failing eyesight, strawberry milkshakes and cheesecake, and, most of all, her family. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon, Friday, February 24, 2011, at Bet Olam Cemetery (B'nai Jeshurun Congregation section), 25769 Chagrin Blvd. (corner of Richmond Rd.), Beachwood, Ohio
Arrangements under the direction of Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz, Cleveland Heights, OH.
