Teri Tomberg, 91, passed away on June 17th. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music where she studied the Oboe. She later achieved her Master of Music at Indiana University. She taught at Bradley University and conducted the Peoria Civic Opera before moving on to Cincinnati where she met her true love, David, at an international folk dancing club.
David and Teri moved to the Cleveland area in 1967 and later married in their home on Hessler Road. Teri taught in the Cleveland Heights public school system until her retirement. She was even more ambitious in retirement which freed her to volunteer at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and the Cleveland Heights Libraries book sales. She took up ballet dancing, sang in the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus and travelled internationally.
Nothing brought more joy to Teri than spending time with her four granddaughters and she kept them active with reading, dancing, and going to museums.
Teri fought against her Alzheimer’s diagnosis with all she had by playing duets on the piano with her eldest daughter up until her final year of life.
She is survived by her husband David, and daughters, Shoshana (Arthur) Beukemann, Jeanne (Craig) Fox and her grandchildren, Mayasha Tomberg, Jessica and Lilah Beukemann, and Natasia De Silva.
