In life I love you dearly, In death I love you still,·
For in my heart you hold a place that never could be filled,
He grew up in the Portland Outhwaite Project area. The family religiously walked through the projects to Cory Church on Scovill Avenue each Sunday. When Cory relocated to East 105th Street, the family ultimately moved to the Glenville area. He attended Glenville High School and later served in the he U S Navy. Arthur became a member of Cory Church (now Cory United Methodist Church) at an early age. He was a active member of the Boy Scout troop under the leadership of Mr. Robert Malcolm and Mr.John Holloway.
It broke my heart to lose you, but you did not go alone,
For a part of me went with you the day God called you home.
Arthur married Kathleen Askew and to this union two Children were born: Arthur James III and Larry both of whom he loved and was very proud. He also had a daughter Tracy whom he loved dearly. Arthur was always in contact with and cared about his sons and became closer to them in more recent years.
Mr. Green was retired however his working career included numerous employers. We did not have to consult Angie's list because we had our own personal General Maintenance Technician. His skills included those of Plumber, Carpenter and Landscaper. He could do it all and he would especially for his household and his three sisters. During his working career he was often said to be a Jack of all Trades" and we the family say ''Master of all" because he could fix and or repair
I' everything. The saying was, "Give it to Uncle Bro - he can fix It". His most recent employment included property repair and painting both inside and outside. He was a very neat and meticulous Painter and took his time. You could not rush him. He loved sports. You might say he was a ''sports fanatic" because he could not wait for the series of either the Baseball, Football or Basketball games to begin. He would also occasionally watch Tennis and Golf.
He and his sister Patsy took care of their mother when she became seriously ill. He would religiously serve her breakfast and other daily meals. He did not mind cooking for his mother and himself. Several specialties enjoyed by the family were fried White Potatoes with onions, Fried Green Tomatoes and Pancakes. Arthur did not attend church regularly, however he along with his mother listened to the recorded Cory UMC worship services.
He was the only boy with three sisters, and he was affectionately called ''Brother"by his family and close friends. To this day his family and others still called him "Brother". This often required an explanation when people needed to know his name.
