Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Lois Mary and Wilbert William Ackerman; and her brother, Ronald James Ackerman. She is survived by her brothers and their spouses, Chuck and Catherine Ackerman of Cleveland; and Gerry and Leigh Ackerman of Nashville, Tenn.; as well as her sister-in-law Kathy Ackerman. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Scott, Lizzie, Robbie, Maria, Elias, Jason, Ava and Edward, as well as great nieces and nephews.
A graduate of St. Peter’s High School in Cleveland, she lived in the Hartford, Conn., area for many years while she was employed in the insurance industry, most notably at Travelers, before eventually returning to Ohio.
Her love of travel led to trips to Egypt, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, Slovenia and Spain, as well as extensively in the United States. Many of her travels were with her lifelong friend, Marge Widmar. Carol enjoyed gardening as well.
Visitation will take place at 10 am ET on Monday, Aug. 19 at St. Colman Catholic Church, 2027 W. 65th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44102. A funeral mass will follow at 11 am ET.
She will be buried at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, Ohio.
