Deborah Jane Sims was born on January 17, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Dewey Sr. and Anna Mae Sims. She had two older siblings. Deborah grew up on Cedar Avenue and attended Cleveland Public Schools. Deborah graduated from East Technical High School class of 1969. From there Deborah worked a host of jobs including GE and other factory jobs until she landed a position at Cuyahoga County Hospital now known as MetroHealth. Deborah would go on to work for the hospital for 30 years until her retirement. Deborah was kind hearted and had a loving gentle spirit about her and all her co-workers loved her. One co-worker in particular named Richard Ellington loved her very much. So much that after dating each other, they decided to wed in holy matrimony on September 10, 1983 when she became Mrs. Deborah Ellington. They both had children from previous relationships, Deborah a daughter and Richard a son. Deborah loved being with her husband. Richard sadly passed away in April of 1992 due to unexpected health complications. They were married only 9 years. She never re-married. She would always say "you can't replace the best".
Deborah was a devoted and dedicated wife. mother, grandmother and friend up until the day she passed. She was a true definition of a lady who handled herself with class and was always cool, calm, and collected. She loved her family and would go above and beyond to help them out if she was able in any situation. She had a charismatic spirit about her which is why so many love and adore her. Everyone she was around took to her in a special way and she was known as "Mommy", She was always willing to take the time and lend an ear to anyone who needed someone to listen, She was generous and opened her home to those who always needed somewhere to go and gave to those who were in need. Deborah loved playing bid whist and was known for her winning record. She loved watching television especially her reality shows, her pop culture, her politics and her music. She was always complimented on her ageless beauty, her beautiful smile her with her one dimple. Overall, she was just a genuine human being and loved by so many different people.
On Monday, June 27, 2022, Deborah passed away in her home. She leaves behind to celebrate her life her eldest brother Dewey Sims Jr.; one daughter, Tenisha; one grandson, Jamari; two sister- in -laws Joyce Sims and Evelyn Ellington, her spiritual sister Michelle Tyree (Kenneth) along with a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
