Doris was born in the Bronx, NY to parents Albert and Hortense Armstrong. She attended Mount Holyoke College, where she met her husband Harry Garvin at a dance, beginning a 60-year love affair. Together they had three children: Michael, Lisa and Charles, who all live on to carry her memory.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Harry (2010) and sister Jean Ferguson.
Doris was full of life, which drew people to her like moths to a flame. She loved jazz, art, movies and spent many summers in Spain with Harry attending bullfight festivals.
She lived a fulfilling and independent life to the very end, and has earned eternal rest.
