Born on September 13, 1957, Elaine was known for her fierce spirit, bold personality, and unwavering demand for respect. Those who knew her in her younger years remember a beautiful and strong-willed woman who stood her ground and never backed down — not from anyone. She was a fighter in every sense of the word, and even when life dealt her the hardest blows, Elaine held her head high.
Elaine survived a gunshot wound to the head and came out of a coma with a strength that amazed everyone — a true testament to the power of faith and the resilience she carried in her soul. "I'm back," she said — and that said it all. Her survival was nothing short of a miracle, and her life was a living reminder that God has the final say.
Though life kept us apart for many years, and our relationship had its distance and pain, I will always love you, Momma. I wasn't raised by you, but I know you lived through more than most, and I carry your fire in my heart.
Elaine is survived by her children, Adria Cook and Ronnell Cook, including her daughter Carmita Cook (wherever life may have taken her), and extended family. She spent her later years in the care of her sister, Mrs. Janice Ball, who opened her home and heart when Elaine needed it most.
Elaine's life was far from easy, but she never let the world break her. She fought, she survived, and she mattered.
Rest in power, Momma. You were stronger than most. We love you.
