Emma Jean Keys

Emma Jean Keys was born on November 30, 1941 in West Point, Mississippi to parents Mary Rice and George Gibbs. Preceding her in death her husband Cleveland Keys, her sons Tommie Bell and Gary Bell, and her stepfather R.C. Rice. She was the eldest of three sisters; Denise Lynn Clark and Barbara Ann Rice are left to cherish her memory.

As a devoted mother, Emma raised six children: Tommie Bell, Gary Bell, Angelo Bell (Andrea) (Crystal), Janice Petties (Arthur), Ernest Bell (Edith), and Levernado Keys (Tamieka). She dedicated herself to instilling values of love, respect, generosity and hard work in them, providing a strong foundation for their lives.

Beyond her immediate family, Emma was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives, each holding a special place in her heart. Her home overflowed with love and laughter when they all gathered together.

Emma spent most of her life in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a remarkable woman who made an impact on all fortunate enough to know her. She was renowned for her passion for cooking, at which she excelled! This passion led to a fulfilling 30+ year career at McGregor before retiring.

Emma's resilience and generous spirit defined her. Whether family, friend or stranger, you were greeted with an open door, a warm meal, advice and good laughs. Her willingness to give and help others in times of need was truly admirable.

Emma Jean Keys' legacy stretches far and wide, touching the lives of her extensive family and countless friends. Her immense capacity for love, welcoming nature and treasured recipes will be fondly remembered, ensuring her memory lives on through the generations she held so dear.

A visitation for Emma will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cummings & Davis Funeral Home, 13201 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio 44112. A wake will occur Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at New Spirit Revival Center, 3130 Mayfield Road, Cleveland Heights, OH 44118. A home going service will occur Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 12:00 PM at New Spirit Revival Center, 3130 Mayfield Road, Cleveland Heights, OH 44118. An interment will occur Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Cleveland Memorial Gardens, 4324 Green Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44121.
